US aviation fuel prices rose for a fourth consecutive month in October, with national full-service averages for 100LL and Jet A reaching six-month highs. The average price of 100LL increased 10 cents, or 1.3%, from September to $7.85 per gallon, while Jet A rose 30 cents, or 3.6%, to $8.66. The figures cover retail prices reported by 3,367 US FBOs and fuel service providers.
Full-service Jet A averaged $8.60 per gallon in the Lower 48. Its price has risen 7.3% since May, outpacing the 4.8% increase in full-service 100LL over the same period.
Self-service 100LL averaged $6.82 per gallon, up 15 cents from September, and remained about 13% below the full-service average. Self-service UL94 rose to $7.87 per gallon, while automotive gasoline, or mogas, averaged $5.79.
The monthly figures provide retail price benchmarks for aircraft operators, for whom fuel is a recurring operating expense. The data do not identify the cause of the increases or quantify their effect on operating costs.
