Frontier Airlines has appointed Michael Delehant as executive vice-president and chief operating officer, effective 30 November. He will oversee all aspects of the US low-cost carrier’s operations and report to chief executive Jimmy Dempsey. Delehant most recently served as group managing director of Wizz Air, with responsibility for operational and commercial activities, and previously held senior positions at Vueling and Southwest Airlines.
Frontier’s boards approved the appointment on 29 October. Delehant’s roles at Vueling included chief strategy and network officer; at Southwest, he held several leadership positions. Dempsey cited his experience across commercial and operational functions, but Frontier did not outline specific changes or initiatives Delehant will lead.
The leadership changes also include the promotion of James Fenner to senior vice-president and chief revenue officer. He will oversee pricing, revenue management, loyalty and network planning. Bobby Schroeter becomes senior vice-president and chief marketing officer, responsible for the brand and customer experience. Both will report to Dempsey.
The appointments follow the departures of senior vice-presidents Trevor Stedke, who led operations, and Alex Clerc, who led customer functions. They are due to leave on 13 November.
