Perth Airport’s P1 transport hub nears completion

Perth Airport’s new P1 transport hub is nearing completion, with operational trials under way and a public information campaign starting this week. The facility will become the main access point for Terminal 1, consolidating passenger pick-up and drop-off, taxi and rideshare services, accessible parking and more than 1,700 parking bays. It is expected to open before the Christmas school holidays, although the airport has not confirmed a date.

Terminal 1 pick-up and drop-off will move to P1’s ground level, accessed from Airport Drive, replacing a forecourt road that has served the airport in various forms since 1986. The new layout will provide 70% more pick-up and drop-off bays than are currently available. Taxi and rideshare pick-ups for Terminal 2 will also move to P1, while the terminal’s Express pick-up and drop-off area will remain open.

The transition information hub includes maps, frequently asked questions, journey-planning guidance and instructional videos. Closing the existing Terminal 1 lane will allow landscaping and finishing work to proceed around the forecourt. Perth Airport chief commercial and aviation officer Kate Holsgrove described P1 as one of the first major customer-facing projects in the airport’s wider transformation programme, which includes upgrades to terminal, runway and ground-transport infrastructure.
