Naples airport to close for November runway rehabilitation

GESAC will close Naples International Airport to all air traffic from 1 to 30 November 2026 for extensive runway rehabilitation. The €30 million programme is classified as extraordinary maintenance required under sector regulations and is tied to the operator’s operational safety obligations. Some flights will transfer to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport, which is scheduled to serve 15 domestic and international destinations during the closure.

The temporary relocation will increase activity at Salerno, while GESAC and Busitalia Campania have arranged additional bus services between Naples Piazza Garibaldi and the airport. Passengers travelling during the closure will need to check their flight arrangements with their airline, as specific changes may vary by carrier.

The available information does not detail the technical scope of the runway works. The closure applies for the full month, leaving Naples unavailable for arrivals and departures while the rehabilitation is carried out.
