Discover Airlines expects its first Airbus A350-900 to join the fleet in June 2027, with a second aircraft planned for December. The first jet is due to spend several weeks on a high-frequency short-haul route for crew training before entering long-haul service from Frankfurt. Calgary and Orlando are being considered for its initial long-haul assignment, but no destination has been selected.
The first four A350s will transfer from Lufthansa, where they are currently based in Frankfurt. Two more are planned for summer 2028, followed in later years by nine additional A350-900s. The aircraft are intended to replace the airline’s A330-300s over time. Discover also plans to retrofit its A330-300 fleet with its Ocean Blue long-haul cabin during 2027, at a rate of about one aircraft a month.
From 14 December 2027, Discover is due to take over Lufthansa’s Frankfurt–San José service and increase it from five to six flights a week. Two weekly services are planned to continue to Belize City as triangle flights. The airline has already scheduled Frankfurt–Belize City service to begin in December 2027. The A350s are also intended to support destinations beyond the reach of Discover’s current aircraft, including markets in South and Central America, southern Africa and Southeast Asia.
