Patriot Dynamics orders six CFM LEAP spare engines

Patriot Dynamics has agreed to buy six LEAP spare engines from CFM International, split between three LEAP-1A engines for the Airbus A320neo family and three LEAP-1B engines for the Boeing 737 MAX family. The purchase is the engine-leasing firm’s first agreement with CFM. The engines are intended to support operators of both aircraft families, although no delivery schedule or customer placements have been disclosed.

The order will expand Patriot Dynamics’ spare-engine portfolio as it scales its business and diversifies its funding structure, partner David Rojas said. He cited the LEAP family’s reliability, fuel efficiency and performance as factors in the company’s decision.

The six engines cover the two principal LEAP variants in service on widely used narrowbody fleets. Spare engines can help operators manage availability during maintenance and other periods when an installed engine is unavailable. CFM has delivered more than 10,000 LEAP engines, which have accumulated over 100 million flight hours. The purchase price and financing terms were not disclosed.
