ZeroAvia has appointed Christine Ourmières-Widener as chief executive officer with immediate effect, putting the former TAP Air Portugal, Flybe and CityJet leader in charge as the hydrogen-electric propulsion developer advances towards certification and commercialisation. She will continue as chair of the board while taking over the vacant top role.
Ourmières-Widener had already been serving as ZeroAvia’s executive chair and had overseen day-to-day operations in recent months. She joined the board in 2021, giving her a long-running role in the company’s strategic direction before taking on full executive responsibility.
The leadership change comes at a pivotal stage for ZeroAvia as it works to bring its hydrogen-electric propulsion systems to market. The company has been positioning itself around certification of its technology and the broader shift from development to commercial deployment, with experienced airline leadership now directly overseeing that effort.
