A Wizz Air flight from London Luton to Sofia diverted to Budapest on 2 November after a bomb threat was received during the flight. The aircraft landed safely at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport and taxied to a designated stand for security checks on the aircraft and passengers. A Hungarian Gripen fighter jet escorted the flight; police took charge after the fighter returned to its base at Kecskemét.
Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft turning towards Hungary while over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The diversion interrupted the scheduled UK–Bulgaria service and prompted a security response at Budapest airport. Wizz Air confirmed it was cooperating with the authorities.
The threat’s origin and method were not reported, and no details were available on the aircraft’s registration or the number of passengers. The outcome of the searches was also not confirmed in initial reports.
