WestJet has completed the cabin transformation of its remaining all-economy aircraft, finishing the retrofit programme for jets inherited from Swoop and Sunwing. The last aircraft in the group now carries Premium seating, an expanded Extended Comfort cabin, upgraded amenities and a refreshed interior, closing a fleet integration phase centred on Calgary and spanning WestJet’s network.
The work brings the former ultra-low-cost and leisure aircraft closer to the standard used across the wider WestJet fleet, while extending the carrier’s post-acquisition cabin harmonisation programme. The refurbished aircraft also feature updated charging points, adjustable headrests and integrated device holders, alongside WestJet’s free and fast Wi‑Fi service presented by TELUS.
The retrofit cycle for this aircraft subset is now complete, but the broader cabin modernisation programme continues. WestJet plans to start refurbishing legacy narrowbody aircraft in September, with about 14 Boeing 737-800s scheduled for upgrades this year and further work expected to run through the end of 2027.
