Western Sydney International Airport will gain new Vietjet services to Ho Chi Minh City from January 2027, with the low-cost carrier planning two weekly flights initially before increasing to three weekly in March 2027. Vietjet Thailand is also preparing four weekly services between Western Sydney and Bangkok from November 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, as the airport lines up early international capacity ahead of its opening phase.
The Ho Chi Minh City route will be operated by A330 aircraft with capacity for up to 377 passengers and is already on sale. The service is supported by the New South Wales government’s Western Sydney International Take-Off Fund, which is designed to attract new airlines and routes to the airport at Badgerys Creek.
The announcements place Vietjet among the first international operators linked to the new Sydney airport. The Bangkok service remains planned rather than final, with approval still required before launch.
