Volotea opens Ancona base as 2025 profit rises

Volotea will open a base at Raffaello Sanzio Marche Airport in Ancona from December 2026, adding one Airbus A320 and 30 direct jobs. The move makes Ancona its 22nd European base and eighth in Italy, extending a network strategy built around secondary and mid-sized airports. The carrier has served Ancona since 2012 from other bases, and the new stationing should lift local capacity on domestic and cross-border sectors. The timing follows a stronger 2025 result set, with revenue of €818 million and EBIT rising to €47.4 million from €33.5 million, giving the airline more room to fund growth without stretching its fleet plan.
