Volaris carries 2.5 million passengers in September as international traffic jumps 14%

Volaris carried 2.5 million passengers in September 2026, with its international network offsetting weaker domestic traffic as the Mexican ultra-low-cost carrier reported higher overall demand and improved utilisation. Consolidated load factor rose to 84.4%, while international revenue passenger miles increased 14.2% year on year, even as domestic Mexican RPMs fell 3.8%.

The airline’s consolidated capacity increased 1.9% in the month and total RPMs grew 3.1%, showing demand outpaced supply expansion. Volaris’ traffic mix continued to tilt toward cross-border routes across the United States, Central America and South America, where the carrier has seen stronger momentum than in its home market. The data underline the extent to which international flying is supporting network performance as domestic traffic softens.

The update was released as preliminary operating data, covering September rather than audited financial results, and it did not include route-level detail or revenue figures. Even so, the numbers point to a healthy load-factor trend heading into the final quarter, with international traffic remaining the main growth engine for the group.
