Virgin Australia is pulling its last four Airbus A320s from regional operations in Western Australia this month. The aircraft are former Tigerair jets and are due to finish their final services within days before maintenance and return to lessors.
The move removes the A320 type from Virgin Australia Regional Airlines’ Western Australia flying and pushes the fleet further toward Boeing 737s and the Embraer E190-E2. That cuts type complexity and aligns the operation with a newer, more standardised narrowbody mix.
The next phase is fleet simplification, not replacement for its own sake.
