Vietnam’s government has ordered a comprehensive review of aircraft operations, maintenance, technical inspections, crew training and flight-duty performance after the VN34 incident involving Vietnam Airlines in Munich. The directive, issued through an official government dispatch, tasks the Ministry of Construction with leading the review and coordinating with other ministries as authorities examine the safety implications of the case.
The review follows the Munich Airport incident involving a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 operating flight VN34 to Hanoi. Vietnamese officials are working with German investigators on the probe, while the Ministry of Public Security has been instructed to share and verify information with the Ministry of Construction and other agencies to support aviation safety and incident handling.
The government wants immediate corrective action wherever risks are identified, with the aim of maintaining absolute safety in civil aviation operations. The instruction also seeks to determine the cause of the incident and any related responsibilities, while ensuring the rights of passengers are protected and the investigation proceeds in line with Vietnamese law and relevant international rules.
