Vietnam Airlines plans codeshare cooperation with SAS

Vietnam Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to explore codeshare services and wider cooperation between Vietnam and the Nordic region. The agreement, concluded in Copenhagen on 20 October during the Vietnam–Denmark Business Forum, covers passenger and cargo services, frequent-flyer programmes, corporate travel and distribution technology, but does not yet launch an operational codeshare.

The airlines will also examine market information and additional business opportunities, with the aim of providing passengers with more journey options between their networks. No specific routes, booking arrangements or implementation date have been disclosed.

The memorandum was signed alongside agreements between Vietnam Airlines and Copenhagen Airport and Danish Industry. The airport agreement provides for cooperation on market development and operations, as well as an assessment of potential additional nonstop routes or higher frequencies, subject to passenger demand and commercial viability.

Vietnam Airlines has operated three weekly nonstop flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Copenhagen since December 2025, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The service takes slightly more than 12 hours. A future cooperation framework with SAS could extend connectivity beyond Copenhagen, although neither airline has announced additional flights or detailed codeshare plans.
