United Airlines will use the Airbus A321XLR to launch five new transatlantic routes in summer 2027, including Newark–Luxembourg, Washington Dulles–Toulouse, Newark–Ibiza, Newark–Valencia and Newark–Marseille. The aircraft will first enter international service on Washington Dulles–Amsterdam and Washington Dulles–Dublin on 1 December 2026, before moving onto the Europe schedule from April through June 2027.
The Newark–Luxembourg service is set to operate daily year-round from 2 April, while Washington Dulles–Toulouse begins daily flights on 26 April. Newark–Ibiza starts on 31 May with four weekly frequencies, Newark–Valencia follows on 2 June with three weekly flights, and Newark–Marseille begins on 4 June with daily service. Luxembourg and Toulouse are planned as year-round routes, while the three Newark leisure services are scheduled to run seasonally into autumn 2027.
United’s wider 2027 international growth plan also includes service to Ljubljana, Olbia, Catania, Terceira, Okinawa and Paris from Denver. The expansion lifts the carrier’s international network to more than 160 destinations and underscores the role of the A321XLR in opening thinner long-haul markets with a smaller aircraft than the widebody jets typically used on transatlantic routes.
