United Airlines has resumed flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Bakersfield Meadows Field after a 12-year hiatus, reinstating the short California route on 11 August. The daily service is operated by SkyWest under the United Express brand with Embraer E175 regional jets, making the 175-kilometre sector one of the carrier’s shortest domestic routes in the United States.
The schedule shows flight UA4804 departing Los Angeles at 10:43 and UA4730 returning from Bakersfield at 14:03, both operating daily. The city pair had last been served in 2014, so the operation is a reinstatement rather than a new market entry.
Bakersfield now has three United destinations: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver. The added link gives the market a same-day connection to United’s larger network through LAX, while remaining a niche route in commercial scale.
