United Airlines and CAE have completed the first phase of the expansion of United’s Flight Training Center in Denver, adding simulator and training capacity at what the carrier describes as the world’s largest pilot training facility. The site now spans eight buildings and nearly 700,000 square feet, with 86 CAE training devices able to support training for up to 860 pilots a day near Denver International Airport.
The expansion lifts the number of CAE devices at the centre by 40 since 2022, taking the total to 86, including 52 full-motion simulators and 34 fixed training devices. United has nearly 18,000 pilots and expects further growth as it continues to expand its operations.
A second phase is already planned, with groundbreaking expected in 2027 on newly rezoned land near the airport and operations targeted for around 2030. Denver City Council approved rezoning in July 2026 for two parcels United bought in 2023.
