Transavia has turned Brussels Airport into a full-fledged home base, opening a local crew centre and stationing a fourth aircraft as it deepens its operation in Belgium. The Dutch carrier now uses Belgian-based cabin and cockpit staff at Brussels, where it has flown since 2022, and the airport has become its fourth base after Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Rotterdam.
The Brussels operation employs about 150 people and is moving beyond an outstation model into a permanent local set-up. Paul Terstegge said Belgium is an important market for the airline, while Brussels Airport chief Arnaud Feist welcomed the stronger long-term commitment.
Network growth is following the base expansion. Porto is due to start in December, with Heraklion, Thessaloniki and Ponta Delgada planned for summer 2027. That will lift Transavia’s Brussels network from 11 to 15 destinations, alongside rising demand from Belgian travellers and wider capacity pressures shaping airline strategy in the region.
