Sun PhuQuoc Airways starts first A320 type-rating course with BAA Training Vietnam

Sun PhuQuoc Airways and BAA Training Vietnam have launched the airline’s first Airbus A320/A321 type-rating training course in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. The programme began on 10 August 2026 with 13 pilot cadets and is designed to support the Vietnamese carrier’s fleet and route expansion plans as it prepares for wider operations.

The two-month course is the first type-rating training for Sun PhuQuoc Airways pilots and combines competency-based instruction, simulator sessions and airline-oriented operational preparation. It is aligned with standards set by Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.

The partnership forms part of Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ broader effort to build in-house aviation talent ahead of planned network growth. Senior representatives from both companies attended the launch at BAA Training Vietnam’s pilot training centre, underlining the cooperation as a formal step in the airline’s operational ramp-up.
