ST Engineering plans to open a Transparency Centre in Singapore in the first quarter of 2027 to assess the safety and cyber resilience of autonomous vehicles, drones and mobile robots. The facility will provide independent evaluations before deployment and during operations, examining software, artificial intelligence, firmware and the links between digital systems and physical components.
The centre will use binary analysis to inspect software and firmware without requiring access to proprietary source code. Its assessments will target vulnerabilities linked to third-party components, weak security controls and the ability of autonomous platforms to withstand cyberattacks.
Aligned with the US National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Cybersecurity Framework, the service will also recommend corrective measures. These may include stronger hardware security controls and improved encryption for stored and transmitted data.
ST Engineering is positioning the centre for systems moving from trials into business-critical operations. It will draw on the group’s experience in securing information technology, operational technology and cloud environments, as well as its work in robotics, autonomous technologies and mission-critical systems. The company has not disclosed the centre’s precise location, investment, planned capacity or initial customers.
