Air Astana begins satellite Wi-Fi rollout on A321LR fleet

Air Astana has begun installing high-speed satellite Wi-Fi on its Airbus A321LR fleet in partnership with SES. The first equipped aircraft, EI-KGB, carried passengers with internet access on the Almaty–Tashkent route on 29 October. The airline’s engineering team is carrying out the installations at its technical base, with further A321LR aircraft due to be retrofitted in phases throughout 2027.

Internet access is complimentary for all passengers through 31 January 2027. From 1 February, free full internet access is planned for Business Class passengers and Nomad Club Gold and Diamond members. Members at all Nomad Club tiers will retain free messaging, while other passengers will be able to buy internet packages. Prices and connection speeds have not been specified.

The rollout introduces satellite connectivity on Air Astana’s A321LR fleet. The initiative has the support of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and Ministry of Transport. The airline has not disclosed how many A321LRs will receive the system.
