Saab publicly displayed a full-scale concept model of its A3-001 uncrewed combat aircraft at the Swedish Armed Forces Air Show at Malmen Air Base in Linköping on 22 August 2026. The concept is positioned as a future collaborative combat aircraft intended to work alongside the JAS 39 Gripen E and other crewed platforms in contested airspace.
Saab designed the tailless concept around high-risk missions including electronic warfare, suppression of enemy air defences and precision strike. The company has framed A3-001 as a low-observable system with autonomous and multi-domain mission ambitions, reflecting a shift towards crewed and uncrewed teaming in European air combat.
Reports around the unveiling also point to earlier demonstrator work, with flight testing targeted before 2030 and one prototype potentially flying in about 18 months. Those timelines remain subject to development progress and have not been presented as a formal production or service-entry programme decision.
