Rosaviatsiya has reissued the type-certification paperwork for Russia’s Tu-204 and Tu-214 family as a single unified document, replacing four separate certificates for the variants. The move covers the Tu-204, Tu-204-100V, Tu-204-300 and Tu-214, and is intended to simplify operation, maintenance, crew training and spare-parts handling for the domestically built medium-haul aircraft.
The consolidated certificate also gives Tupolev greater scope to apply identical materials and design elements already approved on one variant across the rest of the family. That should reduce duplication in tooling, repairs and procurement across operators, while cutting operating and maintenance complexity.
The paperwork change comes as Russia seeks to expand Tu-214 production. Industry coverage has previously described the programme as moving from one-off assembly toward series production, while official production plans for 2026 and 2027 have been revised downward from 24 aircraft to 12. The certification step does not alter the airframe design, but it removes an administrative barrier to standardisation across the fleet.
