The RAF Red Arrows have cancelled several upcoming UK displays after adverse weather in Canada delayed their return from a North American tour. The Hawk T.1 team had been due back in Lincolnshire but will miss appearances including Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week.
The disruption stems from the final leg of the ferry flight, which could not proceed safely because of poor weather in northeastern Canada. Wing Cdr Sasha Nash, the team commander, was quoted in one report as saying the return depended on weather and safety conditions. The Red Arrows are expected to resume their summer programme later in August, although any specific return date remains subject to confirmation.
The cancellations affect some of the UK’s most visible summer events, where the aerobatic team is a major draw for public audiences. The Red Arrows have just completed a tour in the US and Canada, and their schedule depends on a sequence of planned transit legs rather than direct long-range ferrying, leaving the programme vulnerable to weather-related disruption.
