RAAF and US Air Force complete first joint F-35A weapons integration flight test

The Royal Australian Air Force and the US Air Force have completed the first joint Weapon Fill Measurement Vehicle flight test on an F-35A Lightning II, moving Australia’s weapons integration pipeline onto a faster track. The late April trial, flown by 75 Squadron, collected engineering data on weapon behaviour in flight while the jet carried a test weapon.

The world-first activity linked the Air Warfare Engineering Squadron, ARDU, 75 Squadron, ACSPO, the US Air Force Seek Eagle Office and the 96 Range Support Squadron under the Aircraft Stores Compatibility Project Arrangement. Defence says the data will cut duplicate certification work and shorten the path from test to squadron service. The next benefit will be measured in certification tempo, not headlines.
