Qatar Airways plans to launch three weekly flights between Doha and Western Sydney International Airport from 15 December 2027, using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with up to 354 seats. The service will make Western Sydney the airline’s seventh Australian gateway and provide a direct link to Doha, with onward connections to more than 170 destinations through Hamad International Airport.
Flights from Doha will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with return services on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The aircraft will offer 42 Qsuite business-class seats and 312 economy seats. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale on 19 December 2026, while the airline plans to increase the route to daily operations by the end of 2028.
Western Sydney International’s 24-hour operating capability will allow Qatar Airways to serve a second Sydney-area airport without the scheduling constraints associated with Sydney Kingsford Smith. The route has received support from the A$16 million Western Sydney International Take-Off Fund, which is forecast to generate more than 162,000 international visitors to New South Wales and about A$530 million in visitor expenditure.
The service forms part of Qatar Airways’ planned 2026–2027 winter network, covering more than 170 destinations with nearly 1,800 weekly flights in December 2026. The airline also plans to resume daily Canberra flights via Melbourne, increase Melbourne services to 14 flights a week, and expand or restart services from Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
