Pakistan has extended its ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace until 24 September 2026, keeping the restriction in place for another month under a fresh notice issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority. The measure covers Indian-registered civil and military aircraft, including aircraft operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators, and applies to the Karachi and Lahore flight information regions.
The latest extension takes effect on 23 August at 10:15 a.m. Pakistan Standard Time and runs until 24 September at 4:59 a.m. It was issued before the previous restriction expired, continuing a series of monthly renewals that began in April 2025.
The closure forces Indian carriers to use longer routings around Pakistani airspace, increasing flight times, fuel burn and operating costs. It also affects military overflights and long-haul services that would otherwise cross Pakistan, with route planning and airline economics remaining under pressure as the restriction is renewed again.
