Moody’s upgrades Bombardier credit rating as balance sheet improves

Bombardier’s credit profile improved after Moody’s raised the Canadian business-jet maker’s corporate family rating to Ba2 from Ba3 and kept the outlook positive. The change, which followed the agency’s review on 14 August, also lifted Bombardier’s probability-of-default rating and senior unsecured debt rating while leaving its speculative-grade liquidity assessment unchanged at SGL-1.

The Montreal-based company described the move as its second Moody’s upgrade in 12 months, pointing to stronger business and financial performance. The agency cited improved margins, revenue growth, continued debt reduction and solid cash generation, supported by the company’s aftermarket and defence activities.

Moody’s also highlighted Bombardier’s substantial liquidity and absence of major debt maturities until 2030. The rating action comes as the manufacturer continues to deleverage and benefit from a strong backlog across its business-jet portfolio.
