Lockheed Martin has demonstrated its JAGM Dual Launcher aboard a Saildrone Surveyor autonomous surface vessel, extending the missile launcher’s use from land and conventional naval settings to an uncrewed surface platform. The trial formed part of counter-uncrewed aerial system work and points to new options for distributed maritime operations and ship defence.
The demonstration brought together Lockheed Martin’s Joint Air-to-Ground Missile launcher and Saildrone’s autonomous platform in a configuration aimed at showing precision launch capability at sea without a crew on board. The effort builds on earlier launcher testing carried out by Lockheed Martin in 2026, including a separate vertical JAGM launch configuration.
The latest test broadens the potential role of uncrewed surface vessels beyond surveillance and sensing. It also fits into a wider industry push to equip autonomous maritime systems with defensive and strike capabilities for naval protection and counter-drone missions.
