MIAT Mongolian Airlines has held talks with Boeing over expanding cooperation and buying additional aircraft, with discussions in Mongolia centring on pricing, payment terms and financing. The meeting involved Transport Minister Borkhuugiin Delgersaikhan and a Boeing delegation led by Jeff Edwards, Boeing’s vice president of commercial sales and marketing for North Asia.
The Mongolian side is seeking next-generation Boeing models with lower operating costs, improved fuel efficiency and more environmentally friendly designs. No firm order has been announced, and the aircraft type, fleet size, delivery schedule and financing structure were not disclosed.
Any future purchase would extend a long relationship between the airline and Boeing. MIAT has operated Boeing aircraft on international routes since 1992, making the manufacturer a long-standing supplier as the carrier looks to modernise its fleet.
The talks reflected interest on both sides in a framework that could support future acquisitions, but the meeting stopped short of detailing any commercial commitment. Boeing has not issued a separate public statement on the discussions, and no official MIAT order filing has been reported.
