The German Air Force has begun a five-day Eurofighter exercise at Nuremberg Airport, bringing four jets from Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 74 in Neuburg an der Donau to the civilian field for training in take-offs, landings and ground operations. The “Dispersed Operations” drill runs through Friday and is intended to test how military aircraft can operate from commercial infrastructure with minimal disruption to regular passenger traffic.
The exercise is designed to sharpen civil-military coordination, including work with airport fire services, air traffic control and ground handling teams. It also covers refuelling, access control and the protection of deployed personnel and equipment, while the airport continues normal commercial operations.
A total of 74 take-offs and landings are planned across the week, with flying scheduled mainly during daytime hours to limit noise for nearby residents. The aircraft are not armed, and no early-morning or late-evening movements are planned. Local reporting indicated that one jet may have been unavailable initially because of a technical issue, but the deployment remains a four-aircraft exercise.
