Liebherr-Aerospace has opened a new industrial centre of excellence for aerospace heat-transfer equipment at Campsas near Toulouse, France, following an investment of more than €40 million. The expansion adds 12,000 square metres of industrial space, doubles the site’s floor area and is intended to support production ramp-ups for current aircraft programmes while preparing manufacturing capabilities for future generations. Nearly 400 employees are expected by the end of 2026.
The facility brings production and repair of heat-transfer equipment together with Campsas’s existing precision-machining activities. Some operations have been transferred from Liebherr-Aerospace’s Toulouse site, consolidating the activities at the Tarn-et-Garonne location, where Liebherr has operated since 2001.
New capabilities include surface-treatment lines, a robot for applying brazing material, brazing furnaces, welding equipment, inspection systems and a spacer-forming press developed by Liebherr. The equipment supports components used in aircraft environmental-control and thermal-management systems, including cabin air conditioning and pressurisation and the cooling of onboard equipment.
The project received support from the Occitanie Region and the Adour-Garonne Water Agency. Secondary reporting has linked the expansion to a potential increase in annual heat-exchanger output from about 16,000 to more than 30,000 units, although Liebherr has not independently confirmed that figure.
