Swedavia’s ten Swedish airports handled just under 3.2 million passengers in September, up a little over 2% from a year earlier, as international traffic offset a softer domestic market. Stockholm Arlanda remained the largest hub, while Göteborg Landvetter was broadly flat and Visby posted the strongest percentage gain.
Arlanda welcomed about 2.3 million passengers during the month, nearly 2% above last year’s level. International traffic rose by just over 3% to almost 1.9 million, but domestic traffic fell by nearly 5% to around 380,000. At Göteborg Landvetter, total traffic held at just over 530,000 passengers, with modest international growth outweighed by an almost 8% drop in domestic demand.
Among the regional airports, Visby grew by nearly 12%, making it the strongest performer by percentage. Ronneby, Åre Östersund and Malmö also recorded gains. Swedavia linked the overall pattern to a domestic market where capacity is shrinking faster than demand, a shift that is lifting load factors on internal routes.
