Indra will deploy a new long-range LANZA 3D radar for the Royal Thai Air Force at Phuket Air Base, expanding Thailand’s air-surveillance network with a third system of the same model. The contract also includes AirDEF command-and-control capabilities, and the site’s position near key maritime routes linking the Indian Ocean and the Strait of Malacca gives the deployment added strategic value.
The LANZA 3D LRR is designed to detect a broad mix of aerial threats, from small slow-moving drones to stealth aircraft, projectiles and missiles. It is also intended for humid and adverse-weather conditions, a relevant feature for Phuket’s climate, and operates in the L-band. The deal continues Indra’s long-standing role as a technology partner to Thailand’s defence modernisation effort.
The contract was signed at Indra’s headquarters in Madrid during a visit by Thai authorities. By adding another long-range sensor to the Royal Thai Air Force’s inventory, Thailand extends its use of the LANZA 3D family across its air-defence architecture.
