Iberia and Iberia Express have scheduled 98 additional flights between Madrid and Seville and Málaga through 8 November, adding 20,718 seats as demand rises after a rail accident near Urda, Toledo, disrupted high-speed services between Madrid and Andalusia. The extra capacity is 93% above the airlines’ original plan. Iberia will operate 78 additional flights and Iberia Express the remaining 20.
The increase provides 10,734 extra seats on the Madrid–Seville route and 9,984 on Madrid–Málaga. During the All Saints’ holiday weekend, 34 additional flights are scheduled, offering 7,642 seats. The group has capped fares through 8 November at €99 per one-way Economy segment and €149 in Business.
The airlines are working on further additional frequencies from 9 November, but those flights had not been confirmed. By 8 November, the group’s programme from Madrid to the two Andalusian cities is due to total 140 direct flights and 49,786 seats, including capacity added since the rail disruption began.
