GMF AeroAsia has secured a 20-year concession from Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority to operate and develop an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Muscat International Airport. The agreement, signed in Muscat on 5 October, gives the Indonesian MRO provider a foothold in the Middle East and sets up a phased build-out of hangar and support services under Oman’s aviation investment drive.
The concession covers the operation and management of aircraft maintenance facilities at the airport, with the CAA retaining ownership of the hangar and regulatory oversight. GMF will develop and run the site, while the planned facility is intended to handle heavy maintenance and periodic inspections for national, regional and international airlines. The signing took place during the Civil Aviation Investment Forum 2026.
The deal was signed by GMF chief executive Andi Fahrurrozi and H.E. Eng. Naif bin Ali Al-Abri, president of the CAA. Later coverage indicated that Oman Air may feature as an early partner or customer as the project advances, although the core agreement is between GMF and the CAA. Public material has not disclosed the project’s full investment value, commissioning date or detailed delivery schedule, and development is described as dependent on phased execution and market demand.
