GKN Aerospace has unveiled a new uncrewed aerial vehicle demonstrator in Trollhättan, Sweden, less than a year after launching the programme with Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration and the Swedish Armed Forces. The project, launched in November 2025, is scheduled to run for 18 months and includes both the UAV airframe and a dedicated turbojet engine, with contract value reported at about SEK 150 million.
A full-scale mock-up and the engine were presented publicly, while further development work and preparations for flight testing remain ahead. The demonstrator is intended as a flexible test platform for future technologies and as a way to build experience in accelerated development and integrated aerospace manufacturing.
The public display took place in the context of the Swedish Air Force centenary celebrations in Linköping. GKN Aerospace has framed the programme as a clean-sheet effort aimed at validating rapid development methods and mission-adaptable design across airframe, propulsion and onboard systems.
