GA-ATS adds TrakkaCam to Do228 NXT surveillance package

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems has expanded the Do228 NXT special-missions offering with TrakkaCam, creating a new surveillance package for the twin-turboprop platform. The teaming agreement with Sweden’s Trakka Systems adds an enhanced sensor suite to the aircraft, which AeroTec Systems is developing in Germany as part of its effort to revive the Dornier Do228 for special-missions work.

The integration is aimed at operators that need persistent observation capability for maritime patrol, border security and other utility-surveillance tasks. The report describes the package as an enhanced sensor configuration but does not provide technical specifications, payload details, pricing or delivery timing.

The arrangement gives the Do228 NXT a broader market proposition at a time when demand remains steady for compact surveillance aircraft that can operate from short runways and support multi-role missions. The aircraft’s special-missions positioning is central to AeroTec’s strategy for the programme, while TrakkaCam broadens the platform’s appeal to government and civil operators seeking an off-the-shelf mission sensor solution.
