EasyJet cabin crew in France have called a two-day strike for 15 and 16 August, raising the risk of disruption at the height of the summer travel season. The action covers the airline’s six French bases at Paris Orly, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Lyon, Nice, Nantes and Bordeaux, with any impact likely to fall hardest on routes around the busy holiday weekend.
The unions SNPNC-FO, UNAC-CFE-CGC and UNPNC-CFDT moved from a broad strike notice to specific strike days after talks over working conditions failed. Their grievances centre on unstable schedules, short-notice roster changes, repeated multi-day duty patterns, reduced rest periods and fatigue. They also argue that protections available to easyJet pilots have not been extended to cabin crew.
The strike notice runs from 7 August to 2 September, leaving open the possibility of further action with 48 hours’ notice. easyJet has offered measures to address staff concerns and is preparing to minimise disruption, with free transfers and refunds possible if flights are affected. The size of the French cabin crew group affected is put at roughly 1,074 to 1,100 employees.
