Discover Airlines will take over seven Lufthansa short- and medium-haul routes in the winter 2026/27 schedule, splitting the flying between Frankfurt and Munich. The programme covers Frankfurt-Copenhagen, Frankfurt-Lyon, Frankfurt-Prague, Frankfurt-Stockholm and Frankfurt-Reykjavik, plus Munich-Belgrade and Munich-Lyon, with some Frankfurt frequencies transferred only in part and the Reykjavik and Munich services operated fully by Discover.
The move is temporary rather than a permanent network shift. Discover plans to use the extra flying for cockpit training and crew development, with the routes expected to return to Lufthansa under the summer 2027 schedule. The arrangement gives Lufthansa Group a way to redistribute selected winter capacity inside the group while keeping aircraft and crews productive during the lower-demand season.
The winter routing also underlines how Lufthansa is leaning on its leisure subsidiary to cover selected point-to-point services outside the core network. For Discover, the work broadens its role beyond holiday traffic and adds short-haul utilisation alongside its long-haul leisure programme from Frankfurt and Munich.
