British Airways unveils new Heathrow Terminal 5 lounge in long-term hub overhaul

British Airways will add a new lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 C Gates as part of a wider overhaul of its Heathrow lounge portfolio, with the space due to open at the end of 2028. The project is already under way and is set to give premium customers a new facility in the satellite terminal, alongside a redesigned arrivals lounge and a new first-class check-in experience at Heathrow Terminal 3 with American Airlines.

The Terminal 5 C Gates lounge is among the carrier’s largest lounge projects and will offer views across the airfield and terminal concourse. Its design follows British Airways’ latest lounge concept, with British-sourced materials, areas for dining and relaxation, dedicated work zones and shower facilities. Business-class passengers and Silver members of The British Airways Club and above will have access, while First passengers will use a dedicated Concorde lounge within the new space.

Refurbishment of the Terminal 5 Arrivals lounge is due to begin in early 2027 and finish by the end of that year. The revamped space will include 59 shower rooms, a coffee bar and deli, work booths, and premium shower and grooming areas. British Airways also plans a new First check-in experience at Heathrow Terminal 3 in collaboration with American Airlines, extending the broader Heathrow transformation programme beyond Terminal 5.
