Bombardier is investing approximately $50 million to expand its Wichita, Kansas, site, including a new North American Learning Center for aircraft technicians and mechanics. The facility is the company’s first dedicated in-house training centre of its kind and will prepare employees to support Bombardier customers across its US service network.
The investment programme also covers the recently expanded Wheel and Tire Shop, where new equipment and employee training will increase capabilities for aircraft-component repair and overhaul. The projects are intended to expand Wichita’s workforce, infrastructure and aftermarket-service capacity as Bombardier’s maintenance and support network grows.
Wichita is Bombardier’s US headquarters and the home of Bombardier Defense. The site employs approximately 1,500 people, while the company has about 3,500 employees across 10 US locations.
Bombardier has not provided a detailed breakdown of the investment or a specific completion schedule for the additional capabilities planned at the site.
