Bolivia is pursuing a leasing plan for at least 10 Embraer aircraft for state carrier Boliviana de Aviación as part of a fleet renewal push. The discussions centre on modernising the airline’s operations without an outright purchase, with the government favouring a lease structure for the Brazilian-built jets while technical and commercial terms remain under review.
The carrier is assessing technical, operational, financial and commercial options as it looks to replace older aircraft and improve reliability. No model, delivery schedule, lessor or final deal has been disclosed, and the talks remain at an evaluation stage. The latest reporting also points to a working meeting between BoA and Embraer and a related visit to the manufacturer in Brazil.
The leasing preference reflects financial constraints at the state airline, which has faced operational difficulties and delays. If completed, the agreement would give Embraer a significant narrowbody or regional fleet role in Bolivia and provide BoA with a sizeable reset for its current fleet structure.
