Boeing has selected Liebherr-Aerospace to supply the brake remote electronic unit for the B777-8 Freighter, extending the companies’ work together on the 777X programme. The unit will act as a data concentrator in the braking system and support the aircraft’s active brake monitoring system, which is designed to meet EASA and FAA requirements for latent failure detection.
Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg in Germany is leading development and manufacturing with CUONICS in the supply chain. Liebherr began work on the technology in 2018, underlining that the programme has been in development for several years. The company described the REU as its second remote electronic unit delivery to Boeing.
The selection adds another Boeing platform to a relationship that already includes the 777 main landing gear steering control unit and the 787 nose wheel steering unit. For Boeing, the award broadens supplier support on the freighter version of the 777-8 as the aircraft progresses through its systems integration phase.
