Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed a firm order with Airbus for 10 aircraft, comprising four A350-900 widebodies and six A321neo narrowbodies. The deal, signed in Dhaka, supports the national flag carrier’s fleet modernisation plan and its push to expand international services from its Dhaka hub, including longer-haul routes.
The A350-900s will be used on long-haul operations, while the A321neos are intended for regional and medium-haul flying. Airbus has linked the widebody aircraft to Biman’s ambitions in North America, Europe and the Middle East, as the carrier seeks more range and operating efficiency.
The order adds Airbus aircraft to a fleet programme that already includes Boeing jets, lifting Biman’s total planned acquisitions to 35 aircraft. Delivery timing was not fully detailed in the core announcement, although industry reports indicate the first aircraft are unlikely to enter service until around 2030 or later, depending on production slots and final scheduling.
