Azores Government Approves €55 Million SATA Guarantee and Starts SATA Handling Sale

The Azores government has approved a €55 million guarantee for SATA while moving to sell 100% of SATA Handling. The package backs a Deutsche Bank loan at 4.5% over 84 months, giving the group liquidity as restructuring pressure builds and advancing a negotiated sale process that requires bidders to prove financial capacity, sector experience and a long-term plan. The buyer must keep headquarters and management in the islands for 30 months, preserve service across all nine airports and aerodromes, and avoid collective redundancies. The move keeps SATA funded while stripping out a non-core handling asset ahead of the wider airline restructuring.
