The Modern Skies Coalition is pushing Congress for another $20 billion to accelerate FAA air traffic control modernization, building on the $12.5 billion down payment lawmakers approved last year. The group, which now spans more than 50 aviation organisations and companies including AOPA, wants the money directed at ageing systems, infrastructure replacement and broader ATC upgrades already under way. The ask lands as appropriations pressure shifts from planning to execution, with operators focused on resilience, capacity and programme continuity. This is a funding campaign, not a regulatory change or procurement award, but it signals where the sector is trying to force federal capital next.
