American Airlines adds seven international routes for summer 2027

American Airlines will add seven international routes for summer 2027, including new service from Philadelphia to Porto, Vienna and Reykjavik, as well as New York JFK links to Amsterdam and Nice, a Charlotte–Barcelona route, Chicago–Tokyo Narita service and a fourth daily JFK–London Heathrow flight. The expansion centres on newer long-haul aircraft, led by the Airbus A321XLR, and tickets go on sale on 31 August.

Philadelphia–Porto starts on 28 March 2027 with an A321XLR, followed by Philadelphia–Vienna on 6 May with the same aircraft. Philadelphia–Reykjavik begins on 27 May using an A321neo. New York JFK–Amsterdam launches on 28 March on an A321XLR, while JFK–Nice starts on 6 May on an A321XLR.

Charlotte–Barcelona opens on 27 May with a Boeing 777-200ER, and Chicago–Tokyo Narita starts on 19 March with a Boeing 787-9. The extra daily JFK–Heathrow frequency begins on 28 March and will use a Boeing 787-9 fitted with Flagship Suite seats. Vienna becomes the only nonstop US-operated service to the Austrian capital, while Reykjavik returns to the network after a previous suspension.
