Airbus needs more than 100 monthly deliveries to meet 2026 target

Airbus delivered 72 commercial aircraft in September, lifting its year-to-date total to 547 and leaving the planemaker with a demanding fourth-quarter pace to reach its full-year goal of about 870 deliveries. The September tally was broadly unchanged from a year earlier, while the company also recorded 17 gross orders in the month.

That leaves Airbus needing 323 more aircraft over the final three months of 2026, or roughly 108 deliveries a month, to hit its target. The required pace is well above the average achieved in the first nine months of the year and leaves limited room for any further disruption to production or supply chains.

The September deliveries went to 37 customers and included aircraft for Delta Air Lines, British Airways, Emirates and China Eastern Airlines. Airbus’s monthly update showed the first A320-family aircraft assembled at its second final assembly line in Tianjin, China, was delivered to China Eastern on 22 September. The company’s year-to-date net orders stood at 1,105 aircraft, while gross orders reached 1,174 after cancellations and adjustments. Airbus remains on course for another strong annual delivery total, but the final quarter will need a notably faster run rate than the first three.
